circlectric
For the soundinstallation Circlectric Evelien and her colleague Dyane Donck used music-boxes and manually cut the new music by punching holes into many meters of strips of paper. The strips form four gradual rings, which length increases the higher they get. Due to the variation in length the music patterns shift in relation to one another. This circular music instrument will sound differently every time you'll listen to it. The installation seems to come to life with the acceleration and slowing down of the speed of the rings. The programmed humming motors that drive the music-boxes merge with the punched melodies. As a music-making chandelier Circlectric hangs from the ceiling in a beautiful part of Museum Speelklok.
