Both driven to experiment with voice and live electronics, Danny de Graan and Evelien began their duo bang.grab.stutter. in the autumn of 2008. With Danny's background in composition and programming and Evelien's in composition and vocal performance they share a creative language which complements and contrasts with each other. The duo is particularly concerned with implementing live electronics in such a way that it becomes a musical instrument, expressive and flexible. In their first composition 'Tanto de Nada' (lyrics: Sacha van Tongeren) the voice itself is mainly used as input to control the electronics. Pitch, attack and amplitude of the voice, trigger a selection of sound and video manipulations. Tanto de Nada was performed at Theater Kikker in Utrecht and at STEIM in Amsterdam. On the left you can listen to a rehearsal fragment (still working on pronunciation!).
